Affiliate & monetization disclosure

Last updated: 11 September 2026

In short: WEM is free to use. When you follow a link from WEM to a retailer and buy something, the retailer may pay WEM a commission out of its own margin. It never costs you more, it never buys a retailer a better position in our results, and you always check out on the merchant's own site.

This page explains how WEM may be compensated when you use outbound links. It is provided for transparency and is not legal advice. For data practices, see our privacy policy.

How commission actually works

WEM is free to use. There is no subscription, no markup, and nothing added to your basket. When you follow an outbound link from WEM to a retailer or travel partner and go on to buy, that partner may pay WEM a commission out of its own margin. The commission is a share of what the retailer already earns — it is not a surcharge, and it is not collected from you. Because of that, the price you see at the retailer is the same whether you arrived from WEM, from a search engine, or by typing the address directly.

Where checkout happens

Always on the retailer or travel merchant, never on WEM. WEM does not host partner checkouts, does not take partner payments, and does not store retailer payment details. The merchant sets the final price, stock, delivery, and returns terms, and the merchant owns the resulting order — so anything that goes wrong with a purchase is resolved with them, under their terms, not with WEM.

Amazon Associates

WEM is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and other Amazon marketplaces. When you use outbound product links from WEM, we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases. This does not change the price you pay to the retailer.

Sovrn Commerce (VigLink)

On some pages and configurations, WEM may use Sovrn Commerce (served in part through VigLink technology) to detect eligible outbound product links and associate them with our publisher account, in line with Sovrn's program terms. That can mean a standard link is replaced or augmented with a tracked or monetized version when you click. Whether the script runs depends on your cookie choices and our site settings. For data practices, see our privacy policy and cookie notice.

Which affiliate networks WEM uses

Naming these rather than saying “other networks” — a disclosure that will not say who pays it is not much of a disclosure. WEM works with Amazon Associates, Sovrn Commerce (VigLink), Skimlinks, Awin, CJ (Commission Junction), Partnerize, Rakuten Advertising and Impact, depending on the retailer. Which network handles a given link depends on which programme that retailer runs. We may add or remove networks as partnerships change, and outbound URLs are tracked or monetized in line with each network's terms. Not every link is monetized; some are provided for convenience only.

Prices on WEM are indicative, not final

Prices, stock and delivery estimates shown on WEM come from partner feeds and retailer APIs. They are refreshed regularly, but they are indicative — a snapshot of what a retailer was charging when the data was last pulled, not a live quote and not a price WEM can hold for you. The retailer sets the final price at checkout, and it can differ from what WEM displays. Always confirm the price, availability and delivery terms on the retailer's own page before you buy.

Editorial independence

Listings, rankings, and AI suggestions are provided for discovery and convenience. They are not pay-to-rank placement unless clearly labeled as sponsored. Product information (price, stock, images) is often supplied by third parties and may be incomplete or out of date—always confirm details on the retailer before you buy.

No extra cost to you

Using our links should not charge you a separate WEM fee; any compensation to WEM generally comes from the retailer or network, not from an added line item on your receipt. If you prefer not to use affiliate links, you can navigate directly to the merchant's site without using WEM's outbound links.

Your choices

If you would rather not use affiliate links, you can go to any merchant directly instead of following a WEM outbound link — nothing on WEM requires you to use one, and the price is the same either way. Whether link-monetization scripts run at all depends on your cookie choices, which you can change at any time from the cookie settings on this site. See the cookie notice for what each category controls.

Updates

We may update this disclosure as our programs or partners change. The current version is always available at wem3.ai/disclosure.

Common questions

Does WEM cost anything to use?
No. WEM is free for shoppers. There is no subscription, no markup and no fee added to any purchase. WEM is funded by disclosed affiliate commission paid by retailers and travel partners out of their own margin.
Do affiliate links change the price I pay?
No. The price at the retailer is the same whether you arrive from WEM, from a search engine, or by typing the address directly. Commission is a share of what the retailer already earns, not a surcharge collected from you.
Are WEM listings and rankings paid placement?
No. WEM carries no advertisements, and affiliate commission is not an input to comparison ranking: on comparison pages, offers are ordered by price, lowest first. Listings, rankings and AI suggestions are for discovery and convenience, and anything sponsored is clearly labelled as sponsored.
Is every link on WEM an affiliate link?
No. Not every outbound link is monetized; some are provided for convenience only. Where a link is monetized, it is covered by the disclosure on this page.
How can I avoid using affiliate links?
Go to the merchant directly rather than following a WEM outbound link. Nothing on WEM requires you to use one, and the price is identical either way. Whether link-monetization scripts run also depends on your cookie choices, which you can change at any time.
Who do I contact if something goes wrong with an order?
The retailer or travel merchant you bought from. Checkout always happens on the merchant, never on WEM, so the merchant owns the order and handles delivery, changes, cancellations, refunds and returns under their own terms.
