BNB Chain & wallets

Why BNB Chain only?

WEM runs on the BNB Chain ecosystem only (BNB Smart Chain and opBNB). We do not operate on Ethereum mainnet or other networks for in-app rewards and token features. $WEM and program rewards are deployed on BNB Smart Chain (chain id 56 on mainnet, 97 on testnet) and may use opBNB for certain flows. The app keeps supported chains within this ecosystem.

MetaMask (BNB Smart Chain)

  1. Install MetaMask from the official site for your browser or device.
  2. Open MetaMask → network dropdown → Add network → Add a network manually (or use “Add BSC” if offered).
  3. For mainnet, use network name BNB Smart Chain, RPC https://bsc-dataseed1.binance.org, chain id 56, symbol BNB, and BscScan as the explorer.
  4. For testnet, add BSC Testnet (chain id 97) using Binance’s public testnet RPC from official docs if you are testing with test tokens.
  5. Return to WEM and choose Sign in → connect your wallet; approve the network switch if prompted.

Trust Wallet and other wallets

In Trust Wallet, search for BNB Smart Chain or BSC and enable it, then use WalletConnect or the in-app browser to open WEM and connect. Most EVM wallets that support custom networks can use the same RPC and chain id values as above.

Account & sign-in (Privy)

Signing in

Tap Sign in to open Privy. You can use email, Google, Apple, X (Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or connect an external wallet such as MetaMask or WalletConnect-compatible apps. Enable each method you want in your Privy dashboard. The first screen shows email and major socials; tap through for more providers and wallets. For Facebook, use Privy's Custom OAuth in the dashboard if you need it.

If you do not already use a browser or mobile wallet, you can still sign in with email or a social account. In that case Privy can create an embedded BNB Chain wallet for you so you can receive and hold $WEM rewards on-chain. Follow the prompts after login; you can export or link other wallets later from the wallet provider where supported.

Sign-in modal not working?

Privy only allows your site to use your app ID if the exact origin is listed in the dashboard. This is the most common reason the modal opens but buttons do nothing, or login fails silently.

  1. In the Privy dashboard, open your app → Configuration App settingsDomains (allowed origins).
  2. Add your dev URL with protocol and port, for example http://localhost:3002 if you use npm run dev:demo. A different port needs its own entry.
  3. Turn on the login methods you want (Email, Google, wallets, etc.) under Login methods — otherwise options will not appear in the modal.
  4. For Google / Apple / X sign-in, the browser must allow popups/redirects for this site. Try another browser or disable strict extensions temporarily.
  5. For WalletConnect, set NEXT_PUBLIC_WALLETCONNECT_PROJECT_ID from WalletConnect Cloud (email and injected wallets work without it).

Official detail: Configure allowed URLs (Privy).

Shop, prices & checkout

On Shop, we aggregate listings from connected sources when APIs or feeds allow. You'll often see indicative prices side by side — they come from partner data and can change before you buy.

The AI shopping assistant can highlight or rank options; those suggestions are informational, not a binding quote. There is not one shared cart across every retailer; you complete purchase on each store's site.

Tax, shipping, discounts, and the final amount you pay are always set on the retailer's checkout, not on WEM. $WEM reward amounts shown in the app are modeled separately and remain indicative until a qualifying purchase is confirmed under program rules.

WEM native checkout: fees, shipping & payment costs

What is the platform fee?

For WEM seller listings paid through on-chain escrow, the marketplace charges a 5% platform fee on the order total funded into escrow for that purchase (see vendor copy). The fee is calculated on the same token amount the buyer sends to the escrow contract (typically the line total for that checkout).

Who pays shipping and tax?

Shipping and tax are not a separate WEM “add-on commission.” Sellers set pricing and fulfillment; list or bundle shipping in your item price or checkout rules as you prefer. Buyers pay whatever total the seller requires before funds are escrowed. For external retailers (Amazon, eBay, etc.), tax, shipping, and final price are always on the retailer's checkout — same as elsewhere in this FAQ.

What about card or crypto processing costs?

The 5% fee is the marketplace take on escrowed sale totals. Payment network costs (e.g. card interchange when using Stripe, or gas for on-chain transfers) are separate from that 5%: they are normal costs of the payment rail and are not doubled as an extra “WEM processing %” in product copy. Merchants and buyers should expect processor or network fees according to the method chosen, in addition to the listed sale and escrow flow.

Mobile app

Using WEM on your phone today

WEM is a responsive web app. There is no App Store or Google Play download yet — open WEM in your phone's browser (Safari on iOS, Chrome or Samsung Internet on Android). Shop, native WEM seller flows, vendor tools, rewards, and staking are intended to work in modern mobile browsers when paired with Privy sign-in and your wallet.

Add to Home Screen for a fullscreen shortcut: iOS → Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen. Android → Chrome → menu (⋮) → Add to Home Screen or Install app (wording varies by browser). That is a bookmark-style shortcut to the site — not a separate binary from the stores.

Sign-in and wallets on mobile

Privy supports email, social login, and external wallets on mobile. If the sign-in modal misbehaves, check that your site origin (including port, e.g. http://localhost:3002) is allowed in the Privy dashboard, and allow popups/redirects for this domain. Injected wallets (MetaMask mobile, WalletConnect apps) may open in a separate app — approve network and connection prompts when switching between browser and wallet.

Native iOS and Android apps

Dedicated native clients are on the roadmap (push notifications, tighter session handling, and store-native UX). They are not listed in app stores yet, and we do not publish a release date here. Follow official WEM channels for announcements; until then, the web app is the supported surface.

For strategic fundraise planning, we contrast a hybrid (React Native–class) path with a true native (Swift/Kotlin) build, illustrative mobile budgets, and embedded wallet vs browser-wallet UX — see the Native mobile build section on the token sale page (not a commitment to ship dates or budgets).

Creators & influencers

Your public link is /ref/your-code. When someone opens it, we set attribution cookies so outbound clicks from Shop to partner stores can be tied to your code and campaigns (UTM parameters on the link help you segment channels in your dashboard). Final purchase still happens on the retailer; reward and commission treatment follows the program rules and merchant reporting.

WEM native listings (in-app sellers) use cart and checkout on WEM—escrow and fiat/crypto paths where enabled—not the same affiliate click flow as external marketplaces. Promote both: Shop for discovery and tracked partner exits, and Shop / product links for WEM-native SKUs.

Disclosure: follow applicable rules where your audience lives (for example clear sponsorship or affiliate disclosure when you earn from referrals). Nothing in the app replaces legal advice.

How this differs from pure cash-back sites: WEM combines tracked partner shopping with a $WEM rewards wallet, staking tiers where enabled, and native marketplace tooling—not only coupon or cash-back on a single checkout.

Reward and commission timing depends on retailer/network confirmation; reversals can apply after returns. Minimum balances or payout schedules, when applicable, are described in program terms—not every jurisdiction or tax outcome is covered here.

Manage your code, links, and stats on the Creator dashboard. For staking and reward tiers, see Stake $WEM and Rewards.

$WEM rewards & safety

Token & platform basics

$WEM is the platform token used for staking, rewards, and governance-style features where enabled. Reward mechanics, sale rounds, and disclosures are summarized on the token sale page and in our terms and privacy & disclosures. Nothing here is investment advice; digital assets are volatile.

For staking and cashback tiers, see Stake $WEM and Rewards.

Staying safe

WEM will never ask for your seed phrase or private key in chat or email. Only use contract addresses published on official WEM channels; when in doubt, check the token notice in the site footer and BscScan.
