Standing reactive kit

When the CMA moves, this is what WEM can send the same day

The DMCC consumer provisions went live in April 2025. Investigations already include Wayfair, Appliances Direct and Marks Electrical on pricing practices. Every one of those days needs a 90-day chart, not a quote about “the importance of transparency”. This page is the kit: method, examples, a founder line, and the inbox.

What we can supply

  • A 90-day price history for any product WEM already tracks — public page plus CSV, no signup. Example primitive: /history/….
  • A same-day cut for a newly named retailer if that retailer is in the tracker. If it is not, we say so. We do not invent a chart from a homepage scrape on deadline.
  • A verdict on an advertised “was” price only when the evidence bar below is met. Otherwise the verdict is insufficient_history — printable as “WEM could not judge”.

The evidence bar

Lifted from the scoring code in the published methodology, not rewritten for this page:

  • 20 observations in the window (not the three the product page uses for a badge).
  • Coverage on at least 50% of the window’s days — twenty samples in one week do not speak for the other eleven.
  • We can prove a price was available (we recorded it). We cannot prove a price was never available (we sample; we do not watch). Missed dips stay unnamed.

Three example charts

Screenshot-ready. Each link is a live 90-day history. If a slug has fewer than three points, the page says tracking has started instead of drawing a line.

Founder quote — lift as-is

Tony Xhufi, Founder, WEM: “The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act did not create a new kind of misleading price. It gave the UK a way to act on one that shoppers already knew. When a regulator names a retailer, the useful question is not whether the industry has opinions — it is whether that retailer’s advertised reference price ever showed up as the selling price. WEM samples displayed prices on a schedule and will only say a discount was not a real reduction when the observations clear a published bar. If they do not, we say we cannot judge. Silence is the honest product.”

On deadline
