Things to do in Dubai
Year-round direct flights from the UK (Emirates, BA, Virgin) and aggressive summer package discounts when temperatures top 40°C and locals leave town — June–August can yield 5-star beach resorts at 3-star prices, with the trade-off that outdoor activities outside dawn and dusk are uncomfortable. October–March is the comfortable window and the high season, with the highest rates around New Year, the Dubai Shopping Festival (January), and during major Expo or sporting events. Downtown for the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, and the Fountain — most expensive but most walkable. JBR/Marina for beach-front stays and a long boardwalk. Deira and Bur Dubai for older-city character at sharply lower prices. The Dubai Metro Red Line connects the airport, downtown, and Marina in under an hour for under £2 per ride.
